Chenin-igans: Chenin in the Winelands Picnic

The Chenin Blanc Association knows how to throw a good party. Their Chenin Parties at Grand Africa Café have always been fantastic fun so with great excitement we attended the first Chenin in the Winelands Picnic at Spier.

It was the perfect day out. 60 South African Chenins to taste, a beautiful picnic on the lawn with the best weather and live music by Bottomless Coffee Band. It really doesn't get much better. We tasted old favourites from Kaapzicht and Stellenrust, discovered some fun new ones like Jo Vabond from Die Seerowers range by Villion Wines and GLUP from Longavi (Cederberg Wines) and got to try some special, small-batch wines like Dakwijn from Villiera and Perdeberg's Endura.

Some die-hard red wine drinkers were happily converted to Chenin fans. Look out for next year's Chenin picnic and remember to #DrinkChenin on 18 June!
