What a treat to be invited to the opening of Bloem at Paul Cluver in Elgin last week. Bertus Basson is the new restaurant owner of Bloem and he was very clear that he takes his responsibilities very seriously and does not just randomly open restaurants, but wants to be sure that the chefs who run them are well equipped and ready for the role.Carla Burger has been with him for 6 years and so is perfectly positioned to be in charge at Bloem. As media, we were included in a very special launch to their private clients of their flagship range at Paul Cluver - the Seven Flags Chardonnay and Pinot Noir - just delicious! The scrumptious lunch was presented in sharing platters, which is sensible and gives everyone choice - and more than enough delicious fare.
