Wednesday 27 November 2024 was the official launch of the newly formed Chardonnay Association, with Andre Morgenthal tasked to get it up and running and Madison Keyser assisting and getting everyone signed up and organising a lot! It was impressive to see already 55 (and counting!) signed up wineries, with many of them presenting their incredible world class chardonnays at Jordan, accompanied by many gorgeous canapes and many delicious bowls of decliousness. All of course catered for by the talented team of Marthinus Ferreira at Jordan Restaurant. With premiumisation on everyone's lips, it was impressive to see some of the prices of the wine – from R280 to R1 000 (and more) per bottle. Hopefully the international market will snap them up. Michael Fridhjon gave the opening address, and it really felt like a significant moment in the history of the wine industry. To watch Michael's address, click HERE. The Restaurant at Jordan with Marthinus Ferreira pulled out all the stops, and we were never short of an incredible accompaniment to the luscious wines. The new board is comprised of Sjaak Nelson (chair), Ann Ferreira (sadly could not be there), Johan Kruger, Carolyn Martin, Johan Kruger and Thea van der Merwe.
