Grape-to-Glass Experience: An Overnight Harvest Visit to Robertson Winery

We joined Robertson Winery for an exclusive behind-the-scenes wine journey during their harvest season, from 24-25 March 2025.

The immersive overnight event was an unforgettable adventure from vineyard to glass, where a rare opportunity to witness the passion, craftsmanship, and heritage behind one of South Africa's biggest wine producers.

Itinerary

  • Exclusive underground cellar dinner: The Robertson Winery team welcomed us with a dinner at their brand home. We indulged in a gourmet three-course meal, perfectly paired with Robertson Winery wines, as cellarmaster Rianco van Rooyen shares the inspiration behind each sip. Lush Zelewitz of Mahlzeit was our chef for the evening.
  • Vineyard harvest at sunrise: Early the next morning, we headed to one of Robertson Winery's vineyards. Here, we got to experience the energy of harvest season as we picked grapes and learned what makes their terroir so special. We also saw the super-impressive mechanical harvesters in action.
  • Guided cellar tour and tasting: Next, we went behind the scenes with Rianco and CEO Pieter Siebrits. They showed us the winemaking process from fermentation to bottling with a tour of the wine cellar and production facilities.
  • Light lunch: To conclude the visit, we had lunch with the team. Their brand new RW Mimosa Sparkling Spritzer was the perfect beverage to pair with the light lunch!
